A little history about EDI:
- EDI was founded in 1989 when members of the Berks County recovering community saw a need for a permanent place where people could meet to reclaim their lives from the bondage of addiction.
- EDI operates two facilities in Berks County. The original Easy Does It Clubhouse, now the Walnut street Recovery Community Center, is located at 647 Walnut Street, Reading, PA. Since opening 20 years ago it has remained open every day (including holidays), seven days a week, from 10am to 10pm. Over 10,000 walk through its doors each month.
- Our second Recovery Community Center is a 32,000 square-foot facility located in Bern Township in Leesport. Opened in 2001, this facility now hosts a 50 bed housing program (now 30 men and 20 women), space for recovery meetings, classrooms, life skills training, and a large hall for drug and alcohol free functions.
- Over the past 20 years these two facilities have provided space for more than 18,000 recovery meetings, hosted over 3,500 drug- and alcohol-free events for the recovering community in Berks County, and have served well over 2,000,000 people seeking recovery from addiction.

About EDI
We are always in need of volunteers for our many events at The Recovery Center and the Reading Facility. Volunteering at an EDI event is fun and helps us bring these events to the recovering community, at low or often NO cost. Volunteering is also a way to network with other people in the recovery community and to reach out to newcomers in recovery.
